+ Can I still drink alcohol during this program?
We suggest you avoid alcohol as your body will prioritize metabolizing alcohol over any other process (such as fat burning) for up to 24 hours. If it's a treat you really need, limit it to one serving on Leg Day (as your treat)
+ How is the men’s program different from the women’s?
The nutritional needs and food cycle are different for men. The workouts are different as well, as they focus more on upper body and less on legs.
+ I have an upcoming surgery. How can the program be changed for me?
Do not work out until your doctor clears you for exercise. Focus on the food cycle, fasting, and whole-food nutrition. You do not need to change your macros in MFP just because you won’t be working out.
+ I am taking medication that has to be taken at specific times of the day with food—can the program be modified?
Yes, absolutely! Fasting does not trump any previous or current health conditions and medications. If medications need to be taken 12 hours apart and with food, please do so—we can modify the fasting schedule as needed.
+ Do I have to follow a strict meal plan to do this program?
We provide guidelines for each day of our food cycle. For example, on low carb day I will indicate that your goal is to consume I certain number of carbs. We will explain how to calculate your macros (carbs, fats, protein) and also give you a sample meal plan and recipes. However, you will have the flexibility to consume the foods you truly enjoy!
+ Do I need to join a gym? Will having a gym membership help see better results?
We offer gym, at-home, and low impact workouts. They are all effective and you are welcome to do any of them.
+ Do I need to purchase any shakes or supplements for this program?
No! Throughout the program we will talk about the importance of probiotics, protein, and other supplements like BCAA’s. While we are happy to share the products we use and love, none of them are required to participate. At the FASTer Way, we are huge proponents of fueling the body with real food, and this program is based on that premise. Nothing is required but hard work, commitment, and positivity.
+ How often will I get to talk with Amanda, the creator of the FASTer Way?
Amanda will be on live video for trainings and workouts on a regular basis, but due to the high volume of clients, she is not available for individual consultations.
+ I don't want to lose weight, I only want to learn how to eat healthy—is this program still good for me?
Absolutely! This program is about training our bodies to transition from sugar-burning to fat-burning. Weight loss is coincidental for those with a lot of weight to lose. The goal of this program is to build lean muscle, establish hormonal health and lose any excess fat.
+ I get dizzy or nauseated if I don't have breakfast, so how can I skip it?
The program offers guidance for you, and your certified coach will check on you—be sure to let him or her know about this medical issue! We also discuss how to adjust for this in the portal.
+ I have a spinal condition or a previous injury and am not allowed to exercise, can I still do this program?
Absolutely! Nutrition is key—and our main focus. Workouts are not necessary to do the program.
+ I have a thyroid issue, can the program be adjusted?
Yes! However, please consult with your doctor to be sure this program will align with your condition.
+ I have bad knees, how can I modify the program?
While we do have a low-impact version of workouts, they are not necessary to do the program. Make nutrition your focus and add in walks and low-impact workouts that are provided as you deem necessary.
+ I have diastasis recti, can I still do this program and the workouts?
Yes. However, please consult with your doctor or physical therapist about how to modify any core moves, such as planks.
+ I have leaky gut, is the FASTer Way okay for me to do?
Yes, we focus on healing the gut!
+ I have more than 40lbs of weight to lose, can I do this program?
Yes, many clients have 40+ pounds to lose and see incredible success.
+ I have worked very hard to lose a lot of weight and am scared that your program will make me gain weight back—are you sure I will be okay?
Yes! However, we want you to keep an open mind, stay positive and trust the process of the program. We do not focus on weight gain or weight loss, we focus on non-scale victories, body composition changes, and daily wins, rather than a number on the scale.
+ I like to run and be active outdoors. Can I still do this program or will I be so hungry?
Absolutely! If you are hungry while on the program, we change your macros to meet your needs!
+ I work shifts and can't workout every day. Can I do this program?
Absolutely! We have many physicians, nurses, and medical practitioners who have experienced great results in this program!
+ I'm dairy intolerant, can I do your program?
Yes! We promote a dairy-free diet and encourage participants to remove dairy from their eating patterns.
+ I'm going on vacation—can I still do this program? Do I have to do it while on vacation?
You don't have to do the program on vacation but we think you'll find it easy enough that you'll want to! Do go enjoy your time, rest is very important. We hope to equip you with some great techniques to use wherever you are without feeling like you're on a “diet.”
+ I'm making a grocery list—what can I eat? What can't I eat?
The FASTer Way is not an "eat this, not that" lifestyle. We will teach you what foods are whole, healthy, and beneficial to your body and how to incorporate treats in a healthy manner.
+ Is this program suitable for vegans and vegetarians?
Yes! We promote eating all whole foods that fit your lifestyle choices. We have many participants who are vegan and experience great results. We also have a vegan cookbook available for purchase.
+ What is a macro? Is there such a thing as a micro?
A "macronutrient" (aka macro) is a type of food (e.g. fat, protein, carbohydrate) required in large amounts in the human diet. A micro, or micronutrient, is a chemical element or substance required in trace amounts for the normal growth and development of living organisms (vitamins, minerals, etc.).
+ What is carb cycling?
A carb cycling program is an intentional variation of carbohydrate intake each week. Most carb cycling plans consist of high carb days and low carb days. We base our cycle on the workouts we will be doing to maximize fat burn and energy levels.
+ What is intermittent fasting?
Intermittent fasting is not a type of diet, but an eating schedule. Your body is always in one of two states—fed or fasted. In the fed state (anytime your body is digesting food), your body’s elevated insulin levels make burning fat a challenge. However, in the fasted state (8-12 hours after your body finishes digesting), your insulin levels are lower and better able to reach into your fat stores. People rarely go into a fasted state throughout the day. In fact, the traditional theory of several small meals per day keeps us from ever reaching the fasted state. In addition, that type of eating schedule regularly spikes our insulin levels, which also hinders fat loss. So, while eating several small meals per day can lead to weight loss (calorie deficits always do), you will likely be losing both muscle and fat. When you lose calorie-burning muscle, you lower your metabolic rate and make it harder for your body to burn fat. You also might become frustrated because you never feel toned and fit, even though you are working out and eating clean.
+ Will I be fasting every day?
Yes. This program is called the FASTer Way to Fat Loss because we focus on implementing cutting-edge nutrition strategies like intermittent fasting.
+ Will you teach me how to adjust the MFP settings to fit the FASTer Way?
Yes, it will be covered in our Prep training. Your coach will give you any guidance you need in addition to the portal information.
+ Are all workouts done while in a fasted state, or only the cardio workouts?
All of the workouts may be done when they fit your schedule the best. They do not have to be done fasted, but you may do them fasted.
+ Do I have to get the Premium version of MyFitnessPal?
No, you don't have to, but once you start adjusting macros, it may be easier.
+ Do I have to make separate meals for myself from what my family eats?
You can certainly share the same meals with your spouse and children, but note that your family may have additional nutritional needs.
+ Does it matter what time of day I do my workouts?
Nope! Fit them in when you can.
+ I'm nursing/breastfeeding, can I safely participate in the FASTer Way? What modifications should I make?
Yes, you can still do the FASTer Way with some modifications! However, when you eat the foods God intended for you to eat (an adequate amount of whole foods and water), you won’t see a decrease in milk supply. He’s designed our bodies intentionally, so fueling them well will not affect that. However, we will be sure to check on your caloric intake, because when you are living in too big of a calorie deficit and doing crazy, intense workouts, your milk supply can absolutely be affected. The FASTer Way is designed to fuel your body in a way that is perfectly safe for nursing moms.
+ I've had great success with Keto, but I've hit a plateau. Can the FASTer Way help?
Yes, the FASTer Way to Fat Loss is a great Keto transition plan to bust through plateaus.
